Progress review 29/04/2013

My aims within the past to weeks were:
  • To complete the 'anger' scenes and shots.
  • To put up revised schedule
  • To mock up a storyboard of completed scenes so far.
I have started to create a sequence within Premiere Pro to enable me to see how well each shot connects with the next. It also helps me see any inconsistency's with the colour or amount of exposure in each shot.

I will answer the following questions analysing my progress:

My animation process is ongoing therefore the 'filming' process wont be complete until all scenes and shots are produced. The work load is quite heavy in terms of balancing this schedule with other projects but not out of reach because I am referencing to my schedule weekly to make sure I am on track. It keeps me goal driven.

I have made changes to my schedule (above) and marked what the issues are. It is mainly to do with time management in terms or priorities. The voice actors, for example, have been on hold because the production line for the animation itself getting main attention. However, because the piece is mainly voice over, the audio hasn't caused the overall production to slow down or stop.

My post-production itself is going well. Even though I feel that my project is lacking, this is purely my self critical persona. However, I need a better balance between the animation process, and building the sets and characters. This is because the animation process is quicker in some cases and a lot slower in others because of character movements. So in order to do this, I need to make an action plan which I can do daily to keep goal driven in this area as well.

In terms of my documentation, I have calls sheets ready for my voice recording sessions but still need consent forms to be signed. On a later post I will show my voice record sessions and some of the audio samples. Along side this, I have timing sheets that work along side my animation production which aids the technical aspect of the animation- such as movements and expressions. My target is to have the whole production completed by the week beginning the 29th of April to be about to tweak my edit and finish paper work and blog work.

In terms of my blog, I produce entries to show evidence of my final shots, lined shots and animation test footage to give evidence that I am on track and to evaluate the success of the visuals. The only work I have not shown is my audio but this will come naturally when the edit begins to form. However, I need to show more of a rough edit to give evidence that my edit is working visually. Also, I feel my work needs more research to inform my characters and other design choices, therefore this is something I need to think about weekly to add more variety. Finishing a 'actor' profiles needs to be completed to show the people I have been working with and dairies to evaluate how the sessions went.

As I have mentioned before, I am feeling that my work is lacking but I mus avoid being over critical. It is challenging and is pushing my skill set and time management therefore has successful elements. I would like to show this at film festivals and film/anime conventions to show case my work, and it will show is the strengthened skill set that I set out to obtain.
